High-entropy metal-organic frameworks (HE-MOFs) integrate the high configurational entropy effect of multi-metal solid solutions with the structural tunability of metal-organic frameworks, achieving uniform distribution and synergistic coupling of multiple metal components within a single lattice. This enables the construction of diverse coordination environments, continuously adjustable electronic structures, abundant and highly dispersed active sites, as well as enhanced thermodynamic stability. These characteristics endow HE-MOFs with significant application potential in various catalytic applications. We first introduce the fundamental concepts, configurational entropy criteria, and key physicochemical properties of HE-MOFs. Subsequently, we systematically summarize representative synthesis strategies and further outline functional material derivatization approaches. We then focus on the research progress of HE-MOFs and their derivatives in electrocatalysis, thermocatalysis, and photocatalysis, exploring the structural-performance relationships between framework pore architecture advantages, multi-metal synergistic effects, and entropy-induced electronic structure modulation through typical reaction systems. Finally, we summarize key challenges and future development directions for HE-MOFs catalytic systems from perspectives such as rational catalyst design, reaction mechanism investigation, and application expansion.
